NEW MALE ARCHETYPE.....MEN USING ART TO HELP EMPOWER WOMEN!!

I watched a local tv show recently in which a well-known Vietnamese Chef from San Francisco went to Vietnam in order to teach young girls how to cook. These aren't just any girls, they are girls who are predominantly from poverty-type living conditions who have very few opportunities available to them, and are at a high risk for ending up being human trafficking victims. This organization decided to set-up a school for them, in which the girls live there as they go through their training program. The goal is to help empower these girls with job skills so that they can get jobs working in local restaurants as Chefs, as well as to help empower any girls who are survivors of human trafficking. (I tried to find the clip I saw, but was unable to do so) :(

What I love about this is that it shows that no matter what you are passionate about as a man, you can always use that to help uplift and empower girls and women. The above trailer is from the film Wasteland in which contemporary artist Vik Muiz goes to a landfill outside of Rio de Janeiro and works with the individuals there to create beautiful amazing art out of the garbage. I especially love, that a few of the people he works with are women. Women, especially those in poverty conditions have been some of the most silenced individuals in our world, and showing them that they are important and someone cares about them, is a huge way to give all women back our dignity.

I also recently purchased a t-shirt from an American company called Sevenly, in which proceeds for that week went to help the Girl-Effect project. This company seems to have a lot of men working there as graphic designers dedicated to using their t-shirt designing skills to help change the world. This week they are featuring a shirt to help end Domestic Violence in the United States, and I actually think going on their page and just reading all the stories that women have written about being survivors of this type of abuse is almost, if not more powerful, than the funds they are actually raising this week for that organization.

If you would like to buy a shirt to help empower women and girls you can check out their website below!!!
